Control Interface Hardware & Syscon Software
The
System Control Interface (SCI) operates in conjunction
with the TSC Channel cards to form a complete trunking
site, but remember it is not essential. |
The
primary function of the SCI is to connect the channel cards
to other parts of the network. This could be a system terminal
PC for a single-site system, or the Regional Control Processor
if a multi-sited wide area network. The SCI additionally provides
billing, control, status reports, customer validation and
local phone interconnects.
Part
of the SCI is a SIMM module. The SIMM module is available
in options ranging from a standard 2M SRAM to a 16M SRAM capable
of storing up to 100,000 billing records and 100,000 subscriber
records. The module is situated on the rear panel and is easily
removed by undoing 4 captive screws.
The System Control terminal, SYSCON, operates in conjunction
with the infrastructure to provide user management and system
control functions from one software package. Syscon is designed
to run 24 hours a day, using Windows NT as a platform.
The database is stored in Microsoft Access format so data
is readily available for external processing and the generation
of statistics.
Syscon
offers a full set of diagnostic tools, covering every aspect
of network operation. In the unlikely event that any errors
occur within the network they will be reported back to the terminal
- from where the operator can investigate further and take the
appropriate action. SYSCON supports a dial-up Modem connection
as well as a direct connection to remote infrastructure locations.
AUDIO SWITCHING:
Fylde PCM Switch
The PCM switch is built using a modular system, based on slot
in cards and a
19" rack mount chassis. A maximum of 48 switch cards, mounted
in three 6U card frames, may be connected together to provide
192 non-blocking ports.
Now available: Connection to E1 / T1 digital lines. Analogue
and digital cards utilise the same form factor and maybe installed
in the same switch frame.
Each analogue card offers 4 private circuit connections or 2
PABX / PSTN and 2 private circuit connections. Each port is
presented on a standard RJ45 socket.
Each
digital card offers upto 30 ports, connected directly to an
E1 line. Connections to a T1 circuits provide the standard
24 ports. Fractional 64kbps circuits and telephone signalling
are not supported.
